verdejo 100%
Protos sought to build its own facilities in Rueda and to apply methods
in line with its style, all of which under the supervision of an experienced
oenologist, Carlos Guzman. In 2006, Protos used 450,000 kilos of grapes
to produce its first vintage and up to 700,000 kilos in 2007. The aim is
to be able to process a million kilos of grape. To meet that expectation,
it was necessary to purchase a 4-hectare plot with room to extend the winery
in the coming years.
The new winery is of traditional Castilian style and houses stainless-steel
tanks capable of processing a million kilos of grapes, the bottling plant,
an area with barrels for fermenting wine, the administrative area, machinery
and even a sewage plant to comply with current legislation.
The fact that 100% Verdejo wine made in La Seca is marketed under Protos
brand forces the Winery to continue meeting its high quality wine-making
standards.
